In October 2024, Tamil Nadu Police submitted a counter-affidavit to the Supreme Court raising concerns about the Isha Foundation, led by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev. The key issues highlighted include:
• Missing Persons: Over a 15-year span, six individuals who visited the Isha Foundation were reported missing. While five cases were closed due to lack of leads, one remains unresolved.
• Expired Medications: The Foundation’s internal hospital was found dispensing medicines past their expiration dates to residents.
• On-site Crematorium: A crematorium exists within the Foundation’s premises. A neighboring resident has legally challenged its construction, and the case is currently pending in court.
• Legal Investigations: Several cases are under investigation, including allegations of sexual misconduct and land encroachment. Notably, a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) case was registered against a doctor associated with ‘Isha Outreach’, who was subsequently arrested and denied bail.
These revelations have prompted the Supreme Court to schedule a hearing on October 18, 2024, to further examine the allegations against the Isha Foundation.
