As International Day of Yoga dawns on June 21, 2025, our thoughts turn to Mokshagna, a bright 12th-grade student whose life was tragically cut short last year at Isha Home School. This is the second in a series of posts dedicated to his memory, and it features the courageous words of Yamini Ragani. As a whistleblower, Yamini has fearlessly brought to light critical questions regarding Isha’s accountability—questions that many devotees have silently avoided. Her deeply moving and thought-provoking poem, included in this piece, serves as a powerful tribute. We are grateful for her invaluable contribution.
Isha Home School Tragedy: A Year of Unanswered Questions
As we dawn on this International Day of Yoga, 21st June 2025, many sad memories roll on for the family, friends, parent communities, many fellow students and staff who were very dearly associated with Mokshagna. A precious life is lost to the negligence of the arrogant management of Isha Home School & Isha Foundation. The accident which could have been avoided, shattered the trust of several parents who left their children in the care of this prestigious organization.
The simplest procedure like – seeking parent’s consent when taking the child out of the school premises, checking the locations for safety before arrival, accompaniment of senior staff and at least 1 volunteer capable of First Aid like CPR etc., were ignored. After all, they called the death an “ACCIDENT”. Various versions were narrated in the media to cater to different audiences.
Mokshagna’s parents were hundreds of miles away and were hoping all is well with their child, little did they know that their precious child could be snatched away in such a meaningless way. At least, not on “SADHGURU’s” watch they thought!!! The incident left his parents, extended family, parent community, classmates, friends and staff in the abyss of silence and confusion.
While the Isha Home School parent community poured in their condolences, fellow students drowned in grief, the very founder of the school, Jaggi Vasudev “SADHGURU” never reached out to the bereaved family.
For a spiritual organization, Isha Foundation that harps on an emotional rhetoric of compassion and inclusiveness, Mr.Jaggi Vasudev chose to go into silence. The same silence that he prescribes to hundreds of his followers to reflect on perspectives. We waited exactly a year to hear his perspective on this incident.
For a man who has on many occasions generously blessed his followers and families that they would all die in the order of seniority of age, I am compelled to question as to how Mokshagna being the youngest in his family died first and that too under such negligent circumstances. Did he not bless this particular family or despite of his blessings, Mokshagna didn’t make it???
Dear followers, I understand how mightily powerful this man is in your understanding and experience but what happened to the power quotient of his blessings? Did he lose it to the same abyss to which Mokshagna was lost?
While the bereaved family and friends were coming to terms with the tragic loss of a brilliant young child, Mr. Jaggi Vasudev maintained his stoic silence, occasionally breaking it by attending celebrity weddings, tweeting on rape cases elsewhere in the country and introducing his daughter into influential circles. I’m sure that his followers believe that this is the best for the world we live in and everything under it including Save Soil, Rally for Rivers, Save Temples and finally saving our souls. SHAMBHO!!! But, I am still here.
On the same note, to all those people who left their homes and families and abruptly dropped their lives for his (Jaggi’s), expecting higher consciousness and enlightenment, beware, his blessings might not come true. Your lives are wasted and of course you may never realize or become realized.
We as individuals protect ourselves from many fakes. Sometimes, Government jumps in to protect its people from Fakes (Fake currency, Fraud calls, Fake news etc.,) But, who will protect us from fake blessings? He has money to buy influencers who do not know who and what they are influencing. Conclusively, this is the conscious planet he is dreaming and aspiring about all his life. Which reflects the message “Sadhguru will take care of everything” and “I do not know” is the mantra for the followers.
Best of luck with that Mantra and the Sadhana of Slavery, It is ironic how anyone could attain liberation while being chained in Slavery!!
Soil, Soul, and Silence
Yamini penned this poem to express her love and affection for a very dear boy and to offer her heartfelt condolences to his family. The family thanked Yamini for poignantly describing their pain and struggles over the last year. Yamini’s husband Satya Narendra published this poem on X. We are republishing it here.
To the glory of a Guru
To the glory of Rivers
From Save Soul
To Save Soil...
Life we gave away
In a freakish snatch
No word ever said
No tear ever dropped
The Guru never came!
What did he know
What we wanted for him
How would he know
We are still waiting...
Maybe one last hug
That never ends!
Save soil or not
That same soil
You have become.
Yet you remain
In our dreams alive
Rest in warmth
Our dear boy!
No river can drown
No soil can bury
Our sorrow, our pain
Our love that came
All at once
In one frame
